Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for visiting Milistrations. I strive to make a connection through my work that shows more of the excitement for why I served, and why I think a lot of my fellow countrymen joined as well. I’m not talking about sensationalism from movies like Commando or Rambo (though those surely had some influence on us as well). We grew up admiring so many of our parents and grandparents who served, though they may not have shared much about their experience…but we knew we wanted to continue their legacy.
There’s also the American Spirit, as cheesy as that can sound, that seems to be dormant in our culture today…or at least it’s silent. Movies, in general, suck, or are all the same. Country music is mostly just pop music, the shuttle is decommissioned, and who knows what’s going on in DC. But there are some big things happening too. Many are being fed up, and no longer care to be silent. We want hope, we want to be excited about America and we’re done feeling guilty for whatever it is we’re apparently blamed for. America is the beacon for the world; for innovation…for ideas, for wealth, charity, entertainment, love, and honor and freedom. The big thing we’re founded on has been brushed under the carpet and is the awkward topic that might offend someone…but God is good…and we’re privileged to have been saved through the blood of Christ.
There is hope. If you believe in America, there’s reason to. So while politics tends to be all dramatic and causes strife and division, we must go out of our way to ensure each other of the responsibility to sustain ourselves and help our fellow man…because there is plenty to go around. There’s reason to share our story, and there is a chance to be great again. It resides, not in the government or some agency or even on a piece of paper…it resides in each of our hearts.
The Force Awakens next December…I think some other good things are coming back too…even better than before.
